I was thinkinf of this (http://store.yahoo.com/directron/amx01sld.html) as a case, but I don't know what to get in it. I also need cooling.

Any suggestions?

Looks like you have covered a decent amount of stuff in your list above. What specifically are you wanting suggestions on?

i think he meant suggestions on cooling

did you wanna do air cooling or fork out a little more cash and go with water cooling?

also, what do you mean you dont know what to put in it?!?

be creative ;)

I'm gonna get a Chieftec Black Dragon case. But, I don't know whether to get fans or watercooling. I know watercooling is better, but is it easier to set up?

And add a SONY 15" Black LCD Monitor Model SDM-S51R/B, keyboard and mouse, it comes out to be about $1500

Though I may get a cheaper monitor...

Some Chieftech cases dont come with power supplies so you might have to buy one...with that setup make sure you get 400watts or more.

Your motherboard supports dual channel DDR memory so make sure you get 2 x 256mb matched sticks. You will thank yourself for doing so cuz you will be running at 128bits (dual channel) instead of 64bits (single channel).

Your motherboard supports serial ATA interface. You can get 7200rpm high capacity drives for about the same price as the Seagate EIDE drive you were looking at. I highly suggest you go this route... interface is faster, drives are same price, they are hot-pluggable (you can add or remove them with the computer on), and the cable is tiny compared to EIDE cables (helps with airflow).

Watercooling isn't quite as easy to setup as a heasinc/fan unit, but if you can follow directions it's not too hard. Remember that the pieces have to fit in your case (radiator can be a pain) so keep that in mind.
With cooling you pretty much get what you pay for so remember that...a cheap heatsinc/fan or water system is gonna perform like a cheap one. For heatsincs I would recommend the Thermalright SLK900a for P4 (fan not included). For watercooling I'd say Koolance, Innovatek, and Swiftech are all great systems. If your in the UK, you might be able to find a substantially lower price on Innovatek systems cuz they're out of Germany.

Ok, kewl. Thanks. What hard drive and what ram do you recommend?

no no no

watercooling is the dumbest thing since the invention of the
automatic back scratcher

confucious once say
water and electronics dont mix

if u spring a leak
kiss ur computer goodbye

watercooling is much harder to set up
as compared to having a few case fans and a processor fan

and as long as u have a few case fans you shoulnt have a problem

with watercooling u have to check the lines everyfew days
for sign of wear and tear
and damage

plus the radiator is a real pain in the arse!

this is obviosly the words stright out of someone's mouth that has never used watercooling...

"watercooling is the dumbest thing since the invention of the
automatic back scratcher"

water cooling is currently one of the best cooling options there is today, except for vapor cooling... you can get (and maintain) low temps, even while OCing.

"confucious once say
water and electronics dont mix"

so i guess he also say that stupid people and computers don't mix either then huh... if you are NOT a complete idiot then you should not have any problems with water cooling. (NOTE: im not calling Krazy a complete idiot, I'm calling someone who can not set a water cooling system without soaking everything a COMPLETE IDIOT)

"if u spring a leak
kiss ur computer goodbye"

LMAO, now that's just funny... first off, if you do "spring a leak" I doubt it's going to be squirting all over the inside of your case, it would more than likely just barely drip. secondly, it's water, and water is not THAT bad... you would be surprised how wet electonics can get, and still work.

"watercooling is much harder to set up
as compared to having a few case fans and a processor fan"

this goes back to what bonedog said, if you can follow directions, then you should be fine. and then bakc to what i said... if you are not a complete idiot then you should be fine (NOTE: again, im not calling Krazy a complete idiot, I'm calling someone who can not follow directions enough to set a water cooling system up a COMPLETE IDIOT)

"and as long as u have a few case fans you shoulnt have a problem"

no, you hsouldn't have a PROBLEM. Most AVERAGE users have cute little case fans that blow hot air and dust around the inside of their case. I think it's much more efficient to not blow hot air and dust around the inside of a computer though. Confucious say: dust, heat, and electronics dont mix!

"with watercooling u have to check the lines everyfew days
for sign of wear and tear and damage"

i thought this was funny too! you gotta understand, we are dealing with WATER here, not ACID! it's not going to eat though your tubing or anything... an you sure as hell don't have to perform an inspection on all of you lines every few days!! LMAO. Usually, if you have a water cooled system, then you are going to have a window. If you have a window, then it makes it very easy to see the inside of your case... I for one think i would notice if a puddle started to form on the bottom of my computer... but that's just me...

"plus the radiator is a real pain in the arse!"

you must have not seen my radiator have ya there buddy!?!
look at it, then tell me how much of a pain in my arse you think it is... cuz uhh... my *** feels fine!

Well, Seagate makes a barracuda model that's SATA with 8mb cache - can get it in 80gb, 120gb, 160gb sizes.
Maxtor also makes SATA HD's in the same sizes and speeds.
They're both pretty comparable in quality and price.
The Western Digital Raptor is the fastest at 10000rpm's (the others are 7200rpm) but it only comes in the 36.7gig size.
As for a recommendation I cant really give one... The seagate and maxtor are about the same and the raptor is in an entirely different class.

For memory I have no real recommendation, but as to say that Corsair XMS, Kingston TwinX, and Mushkin Enhanced are the best. Some people have reported cases of Corsair memory not working that well on MSI motherboards - a compatibility thing I think - but others run it with no probs.
I have Mushkin and am thoroughly pleased with its performance so far..

Kraut you got some goofy ideas on watercooling.
'wear and tear and damage' - oh pleeze

Alright thanks. I think I'll try the water cooling idea.
